SHAKE YOUR BONES FREE!! FROM ALL THE CRAZY THINGS HAPPENING ON THIS WORLD

The DJ
Private sorrow:
One half of avant-garage group Midnight Mines, resident DJ at These Days and General Echo, Private Sorrow traces the lines between drone, techno and noise with his all vinyl sets!

The Noise/Vox Explorer
Paul Daniel Knowles

The Band
Gutters:...
Two maniacal distributor drivers, Dan BC, & Jon Aye ( ex - Lesbian Boys ) formed a band in between crashing their work's vans down London streets, met Chris P Mowforth in The Rochester Castle to talk about his time in Silverfish & their band, Lampost Gullivers having unfinished noise to make. Ideas were sparked for Chris’s brooding bass, Jon’s stick splintering drums, pinning up Dan’s dark, anarchical free verse. During a brief hiatus Chris Joined Hercules II to add his driving rhythms to the swathing instrumental storms they conjure, when he returned, GG arrived with him to complete Gutters sound, stalking us with his smokey effects laden guitar. We’re in the Gutters, we’re loud, & we’re going to be heard by the stars, the furthest stars away from this increasingly warped planet.

The Dynamic Duo
Elephant House:
London based duo of Shenggy Shen on drums & vocals, Christos Fanaras on keyboards. Shenggy Shen is a former member of Hang on the Box, China’s first all-female punk band. She has since gone on to establish herself a noise artist, as one half of the avant-duo White with Zhang Shou Wang, whose self-titled debut was produced by Blixa Bargeld. Her solo music has also been released on Noise Joy and Little Sound. Christos Fanaras has been performing under the name Jack Shirt since 2006 and has recorded and released 7 solo CDR albums on his own imprint Down Is Up. Alongside M.K. Hauser, Christos is one half of the project Masters both having previously played together in Agaskodo Teliverek. He also played bass and synth in Mothlite, drums in hypnagogic anti-band Temper Temper and keyboards/theremin in Moon Ra

'Odosan' free download album of field recordings from Japan, on Focused Silence.

http://focusedsilence.com/field-recording/0019/

"I asked Paul if he would submit an album of his field recordings to my label. Paul had the good fortune to have spent some time in Japan previously and he dug through the recordings procured from that time.

What I did not expect was an album of such beauty. As someone who has never been to Japan, I was immediately immersed into a representation of their culture. This album is an assault. The album, Odosan, starts with a walk through a busy Tokyo street (complete with a Girl Band playing on a massive sound system) and has snippets of everyday Japanese life that to me – as someone who has yet to visit Japan – I could not comprehend. With this album I was both lost & enamored. Tokyo life seems like an assault on the senses judging by these recordings. Neon signs and Geisha girls come to mind. A lot of the material released here is a stereo recording of other media – so we have jointly decided to release the album for free.

The standard of these recording means that this is not an idle facsimile of the original. Paul used his ZOOM H1 to the fullest of it’s functions and got some good recordings – there is, for instance, very little wind rumble.

I had pressed Paul to see if he wanted to write a bit about the album. However, we met up for a beer three days ago and he said that if you had to explain all you did to the point where it was no longer enjoyable and organic it lost it’s point. Academia had taken the fun out of creative shenanigans for Paul, but, as he stated, he is finding his feet again. Paul Daniel Knowles has started to create art for the fun of it once again – however, with this album he has set his own benchmark very high.

The photograph used in the album cover is one taken by Paul, himself, in Tokyo."
